Everything is a Map Redux

Well, the opening was a great success! Lots of people showed up, and everyone seemed to enjoy the show. We had some very nice positive feedback and even a few sales. Thanks to everyone who came!

Here is the view of the installation from the atrium. As you can see, we also decorated the floor with arrows made of orange labeling tape.

On the wall opposite the front door is Ben's gigantic abstract painting called A History of Nows. It's 5 x 6-1/2 feet, and we used it to anchor the whole show.

The wall to the right of the entrance has two large paintings by Alice that are just laugh-out-loud funny. You can also see my Map to Falling in the center of the room.

In front of the plate glass window is my mobile mural, Map of the Unknown. It measures six feet wide and four feet tall. The three wooden bars at the top are walnut-stained pine and they are also decorated in spots with symbols from our key. There are painted metal shapes both hanging down from the bars and sticking up from them. This piece fills a part of the gallery that is normally unused (because of the window), and I think it complements Ben's large painting very well.

Finally, here is the yarn installation in the back room. Most of the time, this is a nondescript office space, but now it has been transformed into something colorful and fun. This room was a big hit with the children who came to the show.
