Zeppole at the Smart Monkey Café

Zeppole are diminutive Italian fritters, akin to beignets. These sugar-coated fried balls of doughy goodness are available in Ithaca at the Smart Monkey Café for only 50 cents apiece right at the front counter. A chewy (but not dense) center surrounded by a thin crispy exterior, these perfectly wonderful morsels are freshly fried on the premises and are much lighter and more satisfying than the American variety. One little zeppola can put a regular-sized doughnut craving straight to rest!
